Baby Gift

Here is a gift I made for a friend at work. I love the fabric I used for this baby car seat cover!



Here is a burp cloth and onsie that I made for her too.

Finished Projects

Because I didn't get to showcase this one when I finished it except on my last post, I'm going to post it again, and show the other projects I've finished this week! I am trying to make room in my tiny little house for all these projects, so I have decided to not start anything else until I am done with what I've got going...I'm almost there!!

I bought this kit from the Quilt Shop Hop (see this post to see what I got) from Elaine's up on 3300 East. It is totally different from what I usually do. Lots of bright colors. Most of my colors are more muted usually. What do you think? I even quilted it myself after taking my class from Carmen Geddes at Broadbents. It's not great, but it is a first try...you can't tell from this picture how bad it actually is :)



I finally finished this quilt that has been sitting for a few months. I hand quilted this one and finished the binding tonight! Another one down!



And last project I finished this week is this carseat cover for my cousin! She's having a little boy anytime, so I am sending it in the mail to her tomorrorw! This is a super fast project that is so cute and fun to make!

Jaman's New Bed!

The other thing I got on the side of the road was this bed frame for Jaman. It looked the same as my desk but was much easier to get the paint off! I finally got the bed all put together and Jaman has slept on it...and it didn't fall apart! :) He was so excited to see it when he came over and to see the quilt that I made him for Christmas a couple years ago on it. He is such a cute kid and I love that he appreciates what I do!

Just so you can see the work that I did on this desk! That paint did NOT want to come off! It took HOURS of stripping, and sanding, and scraping! But I think it was worth the effort! I love this desk and having my sewing machine on something so fun!

Projects

Here are some of the projects I've been working on and have completed...

Right now my goal is to finish up the projects that I have going before I start anymore. I don't have a lot of room to keep piling things up anymore, so hopefully you will see more things that I've completed in the near future...


Here is the desk that I found by the side of the road...I have before pictures somewhere, I need to find them. It was a white desk with hot pink, neon green, neon orange, and black paint splats all over it. I love this color that I found, it brings a little joy to my day when I sit down to sew...which unfortunately has not been very much lately. I'm hoping to get back to it soon.



Here is a picture of the baby carseat cover that I made for my friend Jill. She is having her baby girl tomorrow and I wanted her to have something fun for her baby.

Progress

I have been working slowly but surely on some projects. I have the Over the River and Through the Woods top all done. I am waiting to take my quilting class in April to quilt it myself! It turned out great, I will try and post a picture of it here soon! I am also working on hand quilting my Valentine quilt-it is about a third of the way done.

I also just got the fabric I am going to use for Asher's bed quilt. I am really excited about this one and have started early so I can get it done for her birthday! It is in June so I am giving myself plenty of time to finish it. It is the Peas and Carrots pattern from Green Fairy Quilts. Here is a picture of the pattern-I do love the colors she used, but for Asher's room I am changing the colors.




I did have to draw it out myself since the store that I went to didn't have anymore patterns for sale. I think it is going to turn out really cute. If you want to see the fabric that I am using click here. It's a little brighter than I would normally go for, but I think it will be really cute. I got one of the squares in the middle made today and some of the other pieces cut out. I can't wait to put this one together!

The Last of My Quilts

Before I show you pictures of my quilts, I want to show you what my kids were doing as I was finishing up my quilts and things I was making for the home tour...


Jaman was making quilts at first, but then when he saw that I was making pillowcases too, he stopped and made a few pillowcases out of paper also! The funny thing was that he wanted to do it just like me, use my cutting board and everything! Funny kid!



Asher just enjoys cutting anything, so that's what she was doing!! They are so cute!




Here they are! The final few of the quilts that I made! It's weird to be completely done with them and have them all set up in the house ready to be sold tomorrow and Friday!


This quilt was made out of Lancaster County fabric. I sewed the material into nine patches and then cut each nine patch into fourths. Then turned each square. I think it made for a fun design.

This is a blue and white metallic Christmas quilt. It is a rail quilt.

This is an I Spy quilt. Each of the squares are a different material. You have to try and find all the different objects in the quilt.


I got this idea from my friend Paula. I think it's great and have the stuff to make one for each of my kids...someday


I love this quilt. It's a little crazy and not really me, but I LOVE the purple and blue border around it. It was a really fun quilt to make.


And it was a lot of work! Look at all the little squares that had to be not only sewn but matched up!


This is something totally different from what I would usually do. It's preprinted and a story book and I just made it into a quilt. It was fun making it though. Not really the colors I'm used to.




This was a really fun quilt to make. Just laying it out really hurt my eyes! :) Once it got quilted, it's now much easier on them!


This was fun to mix and match everything!


Here is the basket of pillowcases I made too.


They are all Christmas pillowcases. Each has a little paper on them that says:

Wishes really do come true!

Each night in the month of December, make a wish for someone else.
On Christmas Eve, you can make a wish for yourself.

Please remember other's during this holiday season.


Here's an example of one that I made. I thought they were fun. I did a few that were more geared toward little kids and some that could be for adults! I think they are fun!


Whew! I'm done! As long as sales are good, I'll do it again next year. I'll just plan ahead more and start a tad bit earlier... :)

Quilts, Quilts, Quilts

Quilts for our 2008 Christmas Home Tour

I've got 4 of my quilts completely finished-piecing, quilting, and binding. I am hoping to get the rest back from the quilters pretty quickly so I get going on those bindings!! Here you go!!

This quilt is actually not being sold. This is the one that I made for Jan who did the 100 mile run for our non-profit group, Signs of Hope International. It has handprints and names of kids from one of the schools that we work in. The middle one doesn't have a name on it to show the countless others that still need help.


This is the handprint of Curry's favorite kid over there, Solomon.


The rest of these quilts are going to be sold at our Christmas Home Tour this year. I hope that it goes well, this is our first year with a lot of vendors!

This is the boy boy quilt that I made. It's a John Deere quilt. I love it, Curry wasn't too sure about it when I showed him the fabric.


I love what the quilter did in the yellow squares. She sewed little corns into the quilt!


This is the table runner/wall hanging that I made. It's out of the Pumpkins Gone Wild Fabric.


This is one of the baby girl quilts that I made. I loved the pattern and had some left over fabric from the quilt that Curry made, so I incorporated that into this quilt.


I think it is so simple and so girly.


I also made some nursing covers. I never nursed Asher, but I imagine it would be hard to keep a blanket over you and check on the baby without showing a little much... So I made these with some really fun fabrics!
